The Icelandic Music Awards is an annual event awarding the best in music, organised by Samtónn – an association of music rights holder in Iceland. There are four main categories: Contemporary Classical, Jazz; Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop and Electronic; and Other Music. 

Árný Margrét, Elín Hall, ex.girls, Laufey, Mugison, and Snorri Hallgrímsson lead the nominations with three nominations each.

This event will feature a variety of leading edge Icelandic artists Axel Flóvent, Myrkvi, JFDR and Ásgeir collaborator as well as music prodigy Arny Margret.

Today, Iceland Airwaves announced the first names for its 25th Anniversary edition, taking place from 7th - 9th November 2024 in Downtown Reykjavik. Among those names are 10 brilliant Icelandic artists: Inspector Spacetime, K.óla, Klemens Hannigan, lúpína, Múr, Róshildur, Úlfur Úlfur, Une Misère, Vévaki and virgin orchestra.

Today NOMEX announces the “Top 20 Under 30 – Nordic Music Biz” and we are proud to have three Icelandic professionals receive this great honour in 2023. It is Bjarni Daníel Þorvaldsson, Junia Lin Jónsdóttir and Sólveig Matthildur Kristjánsdóttir who will go from Iceland to accept the award at a prestigious ceremony at the By:Larm festival in Norway on September 14.
